Insurance & Financial Information
Rates:
My fee is $135 for the first session and then $120 for each follow up session.
Plans Accepted:
I accept a number of insurance plans including:
- Aetna
- Blue Cross/Blue Shield (Including Anthem)
- Cigna
- Harvard Pilgrim
- Optum
- Tufts Health Plans, including Tufts Health Direct & Together
- United Behavioral Health (UBH)
- Wellsense
I also accept insurance plans that contain “out-of-network” benefits. This means that, although I may not be a provider for that particular plan, clients who have this benefit and are interested in seeing me would still be covered. Depending on the plan, this may mean first meeting a deductible. If you are interested in scheduling an appointment but do not see your plan listed, you may want to consider calling your insurance company to find out if you have “out-of-network” coverage and what that would entail.
Self-Pay
I also accept self-payment. Unfortunately, my contract with insurance companies prohibits me from having a sliding scale. In this economic environment, it is completely understandable why most clients would prefer to use the insurance coverage they have. However, there may be good reason to pay privately if you can afford to do so. With the excepion of threat to self or others, any diagnose that I make would remain private unless you provide me written consent to disclose otherwise.
Why is this important and why does it matter? Diagnoses of certain mental disorders can at times make it difficult to obtain various insurance policies, including life and short/long-term disability, and, in the future, possibly medical.
There are no limits to the number of sessions allowed. Insurance plans sometimes limit the number of sessions allowed per their calendar year. Additional sessions can usually be requested if necessary.
Your privacy. Please note that your privacy is extremely important to me no matter what form of payment you choose. To that end, my session notes contain only what is needed to satisfy the insurance companies and my own recall. With few exceptions as required by law, I also do not speak to anyone about you without your written permission to do so.
